Air Purifiers

An Air Purifier is an ultraviolet (UVC) light system that gets installed in the cold air return duct of your furnace and irradiates the return air with powerful ultraviolet light.

UVC kills bacteria, viruses and mold. It also deactivates viruses, spores, and volatile organic chemicals from your carpets, drapes, floors and household cleaners.

How Does an Air Purifier Work?

Your furnace circulates air throughout your home. On cool days the circulated air is heated. Cool air along with airborne dust particles, mold spores, bacteria and viruses are returned to the furnace through the cold air return duct. As the air flows past the UVC light, it is irradiated and the UVC light kills some of the biological contaminants. The air then travels through the filter, where dust and contaminants are trapped. With each pass through the duct, more contaminants are killed and the air in the home becomes cleaner.

For those residents that suffer from allergies or asthma, the lowered levels of airborne contaminants allow their immune system to recover and often result in reduced usage of inhalers and other medications.

Benefits of Air Purifiers

  • Lowers the level of bacteria, viruses, mold spores and VOCs

  • Allows the immune systems of sensitive people to recover

  • Reduces allergy and asthma symptoms

  • There is a noticeable difference in the quality of air

Air Purifier Maintenance

The UV bulb should be wiped clean when your furnace filter is changed, and replaced yearly.
